"Poor standard of care"

I was told in the morning that I would be reviewed by a duty doctor due to my level of distress. I waited all day: no doctor. I spoke to the afternoon nurse. She said that she called the Duty doctor but they were busy in emergency and he/she would be up as soon as possible. I told her it was a bit hard to trust, given that I've been waiting all day with nothing in response. At this point I was highly agitated. I asked the nurse to try to see things through my eyes.  She stopped me and said to look at things through her eyes and wanted me to understand the limitations in services and it was not her fault. I was stunned that someone would say such things to a person in distress.   I tried again  (in vain) to get her to understand my position. In the end, I got upset and reacted badly.  I went to my bedroom. Later on in the night, about 3 hours later, I asked the same nurse when the doctor was coming. She said that the doctor was busy and it was decided that the doctor would not come to see me at all. I pointed out that this is important information to give to someone in distress and waiting since the morning.   The whole thing it's just so dis-empowering and traumatising.
