My wife's surgery was done by a surgeon who performed an excellent operation.
This was followed by excellent care by the nurses in both the wards and the rehab unit.
We cannot speak highly enough.
Now the complaints:
* Patients smoking and dropping the cigarettes outside the main door. If they are allowed to smoke, then please provide a receptacle into which the butts can be placed.
* We arrived their early for our 10:30 appointment with the fracture clinic and were directed to wait in the waiting room. This was fine until people (approx 15) were coming into the waiting room wait for a few minutes and were attended to. We waited until 11:30 before I went to inquire how much longer we would have to wait. I was informed they had just taken the 10.15 patient and we would have to wait. I informed the receptionist that I was very angry and would vent my anger on the customer relations department. This person and another staff member just laughed. When we finally got to see the doctor he asked for our x-ray. He asked what we were there for,we assumed that is was a post operative visit. We were then sent for an x-ray for which we had to wait.
I feel that there is no communication in this unit. It would be far better if someone had told us how long we would have to wait. Apparently we were supposed to receive paperwork at discharge to have an x ray before going to the clinic.
There was another patient who had to wait longer, this person arrived for their 9.45 appointment and left with us.
I am extremely angry and disappointed with what I felt was such a poor attitude by in that clinic.
