"Birthing Ward / Maternity Ward"

About: St George Hospital

(as the patient),

My waters broke 3 weeks early. I called the hospital to get some advice as this is my first child and had no one to ask (family /etc) for some guidance. They calmly and kindly advised me what to do next. When I arrived at the Birthing Ward at 2am, they had a room ready for me and set me up and looked after me so well. I felt like I was the only person there and they walked me through all the numerous tests to get me ready. My husband was working interstate and I was worried that he would miss the birth. I told the midwife and they said, there is no rush, you and the baby are ok, we can wait till he arrives. My husband arrived at 1pm and we went to have the c-section and they looked after us so well. Nurses taking our first pictures with our newborn. Everyone was so kind and patient with us. They dressed my wound with a new dressing that had a battery pack to it that kept the wound dry and airtight. We were in the newly renovated part of the hospital and felt so spoil and cared for. I didn't feel overwhelmed, scared, etc. Normally birth is very painful and can be traumatic. This whole experience from start to finish made me want to do it all over again! !  HA!

Then we went to the Maternity Ward and every nurse was so nurturing and kind. Helping me with all the 'firsts' of everything with my newborn. Never once did they make me feel stupid for asking a silly question. They checked in with me and made sure I was ok. I nearly didn't want to go home. Every nurse felt like how a mother would look after you and guide you, with love and patience. Hats off to the whole team! I can't speak highly enough about every nurse and staff member. THANK YOU THANK YOU! ! ! !
