"Where in Geraldton can I find free healthcare for my family?"

About: Geraldton Community Health Service Geraldton Hospital

(as a carer),

Hi, maybe you could help me out. I'm a full-time parent and carer for 3 children with high functioning autism and my spouse has ongoing mental health needs. One of my children has seizures due to a benign tumor in the brain. We recently moved out of the city to Geraldton, but we didn't research the doctor practices here. I was so use to going to Shalom Medical Centre and other GP's that fully bulk billed. I believe that all doctors should be medicare bull billing unless it's a specialist or x-rays etc. Why don't these exist in Geraldton or any other country town? The city that we previously lived in had 7. Maybe I could be pointed in the right direction please. That would be great.

Dear Looking for direction

Thank you for taking the time to use Patient Opinion to contact us. WA Country Health Service (WACHS) provides public health services across the Midwest Region in the form of hospitals, multipurpose services, nursing posts, mental health and various allied health services. While we work closely with local and visiting doctors and specialists to provide appropriate health care solutions for the community, WACHS do not operate a General Practitioner (GP) service in Geraldton.

I would like to direct you to contact the WA Primary Health Alliance, they may be able to assist you with your specific query regarding local practitioners and bulk billing practices. The Midwest office is located at 80B, Forrest Street, Geraldton WA 6530 and can be contacted on 1300 855 702.

I hope this information is helpful and gives you some direction, however please feel free to contact our Executive Services team on CES.WACHS-Midwest@health.wa.gov.au should you need any further assistance, we would welcome the opportunity to help.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Geraldton to you and your family and wish you all the best for the year ahead.

Warm Regards,

Jeff Calver
