I recently went to the ED at Bunbury Regional due to crippling stabbing pain in my lower right abdomen radiating out to testicles.
Blood in stools, small soft pebble sized, painful in abdomen to pass. Only 2 or 3 at a time, but constant - every half hour or so.
Was admitted to Surgical Ward
Consultant advised need for colonoscopy - however, I believe due to budget constraints, it couldn't be performed in hospital and I need to have it done as an outpatient privately.
Was discharged with anti-inflammatories and opioid pain killers. Was receiving these meds whilst in hospital.
The doctor went home before doing discharge paperwork or take home scripts. I was told that my only options were to leave and go back to the ED if I wanted pain relief or write a complaint.
I left in as much pain as I arrived. I felt I was made to feel useless and like I was making the whole thing up.
"Sent home in pain."
