Procedure took place in the Medical Imaging Department.
Referral for cortisone faxed from GP to Kalgoorlie Hospital, expected to wait at least 6 weeks for appointment but received phone call a week later saying they had a cancellation therefore was less than 2 week wait from time of referral until procedure completed.
Initially very nervous about procedure, heard some horror stories about the process from other people who have had the procedure (not at Kalgoorlie Hospital)
15 minute wait in medical imaging waiting room, greeted by Nurse Kathryn (I think her name), quick prep and short wait for Doctor Nick (I think his name).
All up from time of arrival in waiting room until leaving with procedure completed, was 40 minutes - back to work; done and dusted.
I want to thank Nurse Kathryn and Doctor Nick for their friendly bedside manner and making me feel comfortable. Doctor Nick has a great way with patients, managed to keep the procedure going smoothly with great verbal communication (and some good banter at times :) ).
At one stage when I could feel the pain from the needle increasing, I apologised to them both in case I swore, Doctor Nick was very quick witted and said to me "what, are you going to say fush and chips" (Yes I am a kiwi......). This broke my thought process about the pain increasing, and suddenly he said I could get up as he had completed the injection :) :)
Well done you two, nice work and please make sure that both staff members are acknowledged for the great work they do.
Thanks Kalgoorlie Hospital, excellent public health service provided.
