"A family member was transferred without notifying the family"

About: Bass Coast Health

(as a relative),

Recently my spouse was admitted to Wonthaggi Hospital. My adult child called at the hospital at 10:00am the day after my spouse was admitted to find they were not in the room allocated. Upon going to the nurses station, they were told my spouse was transferred to LRH at 7:30am that morning. No family had been told. I was home all the time. A Wonthaggi Hospital employee left a message on my mobile at 10:30am while I was contacting LRH (on my home phone) to find out the whereabouts of my spouse and prognosis.

Dear lack of notification

I am very sorry that this occurred - this should not have happened this way and this is not in keeping with our expectations. I truly thank you for taking the time to let us know about your family's experience and I wonder if you might be able to call me on 0472 846 355 with your specific details so that I can follow up with the staff involved in your spouse's care. I hope your spouse is now doing well and I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you.

Kind Regards,

Jan
