I had my 1st child in 2015 - I was at risk due to shortened cervix and possible abnormalities but at 38+ weeks my baby was born naturally with no drugs. It was very scary but the midwifes/nurses and doctors were absolutely amazing and helped me though.
My 2nd child was born at 25 weeks gestation in 2016. I was terrified my little one wouldn't make it, but they did everything they could, including talks to me about what could happen, expectations, etc. My little one was born and struggled but the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) staff we're amazing and even let me sleep there and sing to my baby. My baby had multiple surgeries and battles, but fought on and after 111 days in hospital my little one came home.
The staff at Mater Mothers' Hospital Brisbane inspired me and now I am studying nursing & midwifery and hope to work there some day.
