"Fractured spine"

About: Esperance Health Campus / Trauma & orthopaedics Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as a relative),

My parent was sent in by ambulance after a fall. I believe the transfer from ambulance to hospital bed was a botched experience with ambulance staff apologising to my parent for how they were moved.

After that the doctor that saw my parent prodded my parent and in my opinion, did not pay any attention to their symptoms and told my parent it was muscular.

Four weeks down the track at Fiona Stanley, my parent has since been told they have a compound fracture in their spine and is being moved to the spinal unit at Royal Perth Hospital.

Apart from those two experiences all other staff were very friendly and as helpful as they could be.

Unfortunately for my parent the facilities in Esperance have resulted in a very delayed diagnosis.
