"Pathwest blood test."

About: PathWest Mt Lawley Collection Centre

(as the patient),

I went at Pathwest Mt Lawley for a blood test. It was early morning hours. The lady who took my blood never sanitised her hands, nor did she wear gloves before pricking me. She was touching her bathroom door before that and cleaning the premises. I thought she will sanitise before taking blood, but that never happened.

Dear Blood test,

Thank you for taking the time to write of your recent experience whilst attending one of our collection centres. I am disappointed to hear of your concerns regarding the lack of hand hygiene processes you observed and would like to apologise to you as PathWest takes our hand hygiene policy seriously. All staff are trained in this policy and expected to comply with performing acceptable hand hygiene processes at all times to ensure a safe experience for our patients. I am grateful for your feedback and would like to reassure you that it will be used to improve our services. We will be reiterating to all our staff the mandatory requirement of our hand hygiene policy and that the policy must be followed at all times. If you wish to discuss this issue any further I am happy to be contacted on (08) 6457 3000.

Kind regards,

Frances Brogden.
