Recently my friend attended Augusta Emergency Department because of mild but persistent chest pain--'indigestion'. A diagnosis of ongoing heart attacks was promptly made, with ECG evidence and the immediate use of thrombolysins. Transfer was arranged by RFDS (Royal Flying Doctors) to Fiona Stanley Hospital that afternoon. Then a coronary bypass was carried out at The Mount Hospital. Today, my friend is recovering well and ready for discharge home within a few days. He is extremely grateful to the staff at all the hospitals but especially those at Augusta. The staff there were extremely competent, professional in their management and extremely caring with my mate and his friends. The doctor was Fintan, the Nurse Supervisor was Bernie and the nurses were Jo and Jude. My friend's mild symptoms were a sign of an impending catastrophe and he owes his life to the prompt diagnosis and management of this team.
"Special thanks to Augusta WA ED"
