Late last year my husband was admitted to Ward 9.2 following a serious stroke. From the very outset of our experience at Box Hill Hospital, beginning in the Emergency Department, my family and I were overwhelmed by the care and attention shown not only to my husband but to our entire family. Given how busy the staff were, we were continually amazed by, and grateful for, the level of communication, respect and patience from all members of staff.
Several teams were involved: MET (Medical Emergency Team), Stroke Team, Gastro. Team, Palliative Care Team...we were kept fully informed at all times, and appreciate the time, respect and concern offered.
It was a long and harrowing journey, and I believe strongly that my husband, even when he neared the end, was upheld, as I was, by the love shown and felt from all staff as they attended to every aspect of his care.
If the culture on Ward 9.2 (and I include ancillary staff as well!) is typical of that within the rest of the hospital, then I'd say Box Hill Hospital has nailed the formula!
Many, many thanks!
