I was taken by ambulance from Pemberton to Bunbury Regional Hospital with severe abdominal pain which hadn't been diagnosed either at Pemberton or Manjimup Hospitals. The pain eventually abated after three days treatment.
The care I received at Bunbury was exemplary. From the ED to ward the reception was so positive, friendly and professional. All the staff from cleaners to medical, nursing and ancillary were kind and supportive. Although in pain I felt reassured that I was being cared for to the best of the hospital's ability and I'm sure that this feeling contributed to the successful medical outcome. A scan showed the presence of a stone in the left ureter. Other evidence suggested infection.
One small negative point which doesn't detract from the overall care. The 9.30 pm nurse changeover was quite noisy just outside my room, enough to waken me and keep me awake. I think that this important meeting should take place in a room not adjacent to patients' rooms.
