I have recently been a patient at Box Hill Hospital and have had several trips there in the past. They are absolutely marvelous. The nursing care is all very good. Everyone is polite and I have received good treatment.

However, I was in a two bed room and the patient beside me talked loudly on their mobile phone all night long and I got no sleep. This is the second time this has happened during one of my stays at Box Hill. 

The other thing is, in my opinion, the tourniquets are useless. They are a one use only tourniquet and you can't even feel them when they are on. Because of this, they couldn't get a vein. If they used an old fashioned one, they would get a vein straight away.

Dear Tourniquet

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at Box Hill Hospital and in particular the impact of other patients speaking loudly on their mobile phone in a shared room and also the practice of single use tourniquets for taking blood.

We have done a lot of work to reduce 'noise at night' so patients are able to have as much sleep as possible, so your comment may be the next area we need to look at. Balancing the need for single use equipment on infection control basis with an effectively functioning item is really important and your feedback will help here.

I will forward your comments onto ward managers for them to highlight the impact of patients using mobile phones overnight and also to our Clinical Products Advisor regarding single use tourniquets.
