I felt I was treated rudely and with disrespect and a staff member attempted to prevent me of my right to see my doctor.
In consult room by an unidentified staff member.
Staff membr: Show me your thumb. Move it around.
Me: Are you the doctor?
Staff member: No
Me: Who are you?
Staff member: I work with the doctor.
Me: I'd like to see the doctor.
Staff member: Not everyone gets to see the doctor. This is a teaching hospital you know.
Me: I want to see a doctor.
The doctor (not my designated) appeared very tired, had a look, shrugged, seemed to be of no particular use and was off again. The staff member hovering the whole time.
A different staff member apologised for this person's rudeness and the fact they did not introduce them-self properly, then arranged for me to see my regular physio. I advised that I believe the staff member needed more training. I was told others have also complained about the same staff member's manner.
All surgical and emergency treatment by the hospital has been fantastic and my only issue is with this staff member.
In my opinion, if you are a teaching hospital, patient dealings are even more important as these people are being released out onto a generally wonderful, I believe woefully underfunded public hospital system.
