"Haemorrhaging after a total hysterectomy"

Last Wednesday morning, two weeks post op from my hysterectomy without any pain or bleeding I started haemorrhaging and my husband called the ambulance. I was taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital in Subiaco and underwent emergency surgery performed by Professor Yee. I had one blood transfusion during surgery. I will be forever grateful to Professor Yee for saving my life. That afternoon on Ward 6 a young nurse by the name of Lucy lent in and said, don’t panic I’m just going to press a button and lots of people will come running. They asked my husband to leave the room. Code blue was called and a wonderful anesthetist by the name of Dr Lloyd got my second blood transfusion in fifteen minutes as my veins were collapsing. I was transferred to the Special Observation Unit and had another blood transfusion, magnesium and iron transfusion. In total I spent six days in King Edward Memorial Hospital and at all times the staff were unbelievably excellent, caring, kind, thoughtful and professional. Lucy the young nurse came to see me and when I started crying saying thank you for saving my life the second time, she said I was just doing my job. I cannot thank everyone who has been so wonderful to me over the last week, and now a slow recovery.
