"The lack of response following the death of my son"

About: Bunbury Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

Two years ago, my son died whilst under the alleged care of the Bunbury Regional Hospital.

After noting a marked deterioration in my son's health following a change in his medication we made repeated approaches to the hospital asking that he be admitted so that his condition could be adequately monitored and treated, though I believe our concerns were not taken seriously.

After eight days of daily approaches to the hospital without satisfaction my son died.

After two years we are still waiting for an explanation from the hospital as to why they ignored our requests for help.

After two years there have been no sanctions against the staff at the hospital with whom we dealt and who repeatedly ignored our requests for help.

After two years we have been told that an inquest into the circumstances regarding my son's death will not be listed for a preliminary hearing for at least another one to two years.

After two years we are exhausted with waiting for someone to give us answers to our questions.

Dear wanting answers,

Thank you for sharing your experience on Patient Opinion.

I am sorry for the experience you and your family have gone through having lost your son and offer you and your family our condolences.

I appreciated talking to you on the phone last week and look forward to meeting with you and your family on Friday to talk through and answer the questions that you have sent through to us about the treatment your son received.

Kind Regards

Debbie Easther
