Last month I was admitted to the ED because I was attacked by a swarm of wasps. The staff at the short stay department were lovely and I was discharged the same night. However, I was not given a discharge summary and I did not know I was meant to get one, given this was my first experience. And having been such a chaotic night I could not even remember who treated me. Since I was still sick from the medications given after more than a week I needed to find out what I was given. I called Box Hill Hospital just over a week after discharge and unfortunately spent 30 minutes, I felt, being put down by their staff on the phone for trying to find out my doctor's name and arrangements for me to get my discharge summary as if I was being a nuisance to everyone. I was told they could not tell me the names of my doctors. After half an hour I had no choice but to have faith that they would keep their word to have my doctor call me back that same day and to mail out my discharge summary to me. It has been two weeks since that initial call now and I have not received a call nor my discharge summary. The attitude of the staff when I called and after is most unprofessional. I am deeply disappointed in the hospital.
