"Waiting Time to see GP"

About: GP Clinic - Southport Star Health - South Melbourne

I recently had a 3.15 pm appointment at the South Melbourne clinic.

I replied to the SMS the day before of my attendance and arrived at approx. 3.10 pm for my appointment. After having to wait 52 minutes, my name was called to see the doctor who is not at any fault for the delay.

I also attended the same clinic last week and had to wait for 43 minutes that time. On a previous visit I also was waiting for over 40 minutes to be called. 

If I was being Bulk Billed I could accept it a little better, but the fact I am a paying customer, I feel ripped off having to wait that long and then be expected to pay for such a delayed service. My waiting time is also worth a value to me which is lost due to the delay.

I suspect the doctors are on a quota of patients to see and do not allocate enough time for each patient. Something needs to be done to prevent the long waiting time each visit and other patients in the waiting room were also not happy today with the delay.

Dear Bactmint,

Thank you for your feedback with regards to the longer than expected waiting time to see our GP's. I would like to extend our sincere apology for the experience you had as I agree, that waiting for that amount of time to see the practitioner is unacceptable unless there are extenuating circumstances. It is certainly not our intention to have clients such as yourself have to experience such long wait times during regular visits. Please be assured that we will work collaboratively with our GP team, and our overall Service Access and Support team to find a more efficient way for appointments to be booked and managed, and for wait times to be minimal for all clients who choose to have services with us.
