I attended the Peel Health Campus Emergency Department with my young daughter recently this week as she was complaining of severe stomach pain. We had been here before last year and she was treated at that time with antibiotics for an inflamed appendix. I was worried this time that the problem had come back and didn't want to take any chances so I brought her to the ED.

The doctor who looked after her, Dr Mike, was so caring and patient with her. My daughter has a needle phobia and was getting really distressed as she knew she would need to have a blood test. Dr Mike was made aware of this and couldn't have been more patient and caring with my daughter, he calmed her down and made her laugh. She even said to me that "he is really nice".

Thankfully, it wasn't her appendix again this time and we were discharged home.

Big thanks to Dr Mike.

Coming into an emergency department is a very daunting experience, made even more so when you are young, in pain and afraid of needles. I am so pleased to hear that your daughter was calm and able to laugh. She has impeccable judgement - Dr Mike is really nice. Please be assured that I will personally provide him with this feedback.

I hope your daughter's stomach pain is resolving and she has a lovely time over the forthcoming school holidays.
