"Geraldton Hospital"

About: Geraldton Hospital

(as the patient),

I went to Geraldton ED with extremely bad headaches only a couple of weeks post neurosurgery. The staff were as quick as they could to see me. I had scans and x-rays done within minutes of walking in to see the doctor. I was given pain relief that suited my situation. I was kept overnight and monitored and then given a new method to try to reduce my pain.

In this time they had tried to make contact with my neurosurgeon (he was unavailable at that time), so the doctor said I could head home to be comfortable and away from bright lights and noise and the doctor said he would contact my partner or myself once my surgeon had contacted him back.

I could not fault any of the staff, they were all amazing, empathetic to my situation and helped me to the best of their abilities.

Dear K8i

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. Patient Opinion allows us to share your experience with our front line staff and recognise them for the great job they are doing or if the feedback is not so great, we can work towards improving our service to the benefit of the entire community. Geraldton Hospital as part of WA Country Health Service prides itself on providing a high level of quality, compassionate health care to everyone and I am so pleased we were able to make your experience with us a positive one. Emergency Departments can be busy, stressful places and having someone take that extra time to make your stay a little easier can make all the difference. From your story, your journey has been a long one and I know our team in the Emergency Department will be very happy to hear they were able to make your visit as comfortable and pain-free as possible.

I hope you are feeling much better, and wish you all the very best for your recovery.

Warm Regards,

Michele
