After feeling faint, dizzy and generally unwell most of the afternoon, my partner convinced me to let him take me to the ED at Carnarvon Health Campus to be checked out. From the moment I arrived in the Triage box my level of care was excellent! My heart rate went up to 160 bpm and I was quickly taken to a bed to be checked out by multiple nurses and the doctor. I was kept in for a couple of hours to be monitored and to ensure my heart rate lowered on its own. After this I was given a referral to have bloods the following day, an Echo ultrasound and review by the next visiting Cardiologist. I would also like to mention the ease in getting appointments booked with WA Cardiology's visiting specialist - they were wonderful in booking appointments for me in a timely manner. The same can also be said for Pathwest and the Carnarvon Medical Centre.
Being a WA Country Health employee at the Carnarvon Health Campus myself, I see everyday the care our staff have for our patients, but to experience it first hand in dealing with my own health problem was another matter entirely. All involved in caring for me for the few hours I spent in ED were so wonderful and really put my mind at ease that I was in the best place and was really being cared for.
Thank you again to Nicole, Francis, Martha and Dr Geert for making my Emergency Department experience as positive as could be!
