"Gynae oncology surgery and outpatient care at Box Hill Hospital"

Several months ago I had a hysteroscopy which returned an abnormal result and I needed to be booked for a hysterectomy. The surgical booking began in the outpatient clinic at Box Hill hospital with the gynaecology doctor, Helen. Helen was extremely thorough and explained everything clearly to me. I was made to feel very confident in her care.

As a category 1 patient, I was admitted for my operation a few weeks after in Surgical Admissions, again at Box Hill. The first person I saw in the reception area was called Peta. She was very friendly and answered all my questions in a timely manner whilst having a busy waiting room. Then the nurse called me and her name was Nane, she was very nice and caring. Nane explained the surgical process to me and helped cure the anxiety I had with her calm and reassuring nature.

Just before going into the operating theatre the anaesthetic doctor, David, spoke to me and was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I would hope anyone who has surgery has Dr David!

I was in Ward 2.2 for 2 days and had many different nurses who I cannot remember all the names of, but they were very helpful, especially the male nurse Raj. I am sorry I cannot remember the other nurses, but they were all so nice and skilled. The hospital ward was very clean and new and it really stood out to me compared to the other hospitals I had seen in Victoria. I was very happy I came to Box Hill Hospital.

After being discharged from Box Hill I had a lot of follow-up treatment with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre which was also very good, but living far from the CBD made it difficult to travel there. Recently I had my last follow-up appointment at the hospital. I have beaten cervical cancer and I am very happy Box Hill Hospital was involved in my care and I highly recommend it.
