"Endometriosis and emergency department"

About: Geelong Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I had a bad flare up of pain with my endometriosis. I had just stopped taking the pill due to terrible migraines. My pain wasn’t being touched with Panadeine Forte and my husband called an ambulance.

When I arrived at the hospital the paramedics had given me morphine; it took the edge off but I wasn’t completely pain-free.

I believe that the two nurses who saw me basically treated me as a drug seeker and told me to go home and see my gynaecologist during the week to either have another baby or get a hysterectomy.

It made me feel worthless.
