"Long waiting times"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / General Outpatient Clinics

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter went to Fiona Stanley Hospital for a blood test and left because of the large number of people waiting.

Three hours later she returned and once again left for the same reason.

Hopefully it will be quieter next time.  Her doctor is seeing her again soon and wants the results of the blood test.
Perhaps bookings should be considered.

Dear charcol,

Thank you for sharing your daughter’s experience on Patient Opinion. I was disappointed to hear that your daughter left without receiving her blood test. Pathology services at Fiona Stanley Hospital are run by PathWest and we have shared this feedback with them.

We work together to care for our patients and apologise that sometimes the waiting times for blood tests are longer – this depends on the time of the day as many blood tests need people to fast and need to be done first thing in the morning. When queues are long, we have the most staff on to take bloods and work to get through them quickly.

We will work with Pathwest to consider whether there are useful ways to tell patients how long they might have to wait.

Thank you again for your feedback, it helps us make our hospital better.

Kind regards

Janet Zagari
