"Lack of support"

About: Logan House Residential Rehabilitation Facility

(as the patient),

I was elderly and disabled on a wheelie-walker. A close friend admitted me and was charged $500. I was placed in a house to be supervised by a young staff member.

The first day I was sent to a GP who asked me what was I doing there as they thought it inappropriate.

The manager and staff were very aware of my health issues but two days in to being there I was called to a meeting and asked to leave.

My friend was refunded their money but I believe they kept some personal items, as I am unable to find them!

After this, I was homeless and was sent to a place in Herston which was a nightmare. This was the start, again, of my drinking that would continue over the two years up to now.

In my opinion, this rehab is dishonest. I am now with another support service where there are, I believe, other Logan Rehab people struggling.

Dear Apusny56

Thank you for telling us your story and the courage it would have required when something has taken place a year or two ago.

The matters you describe are concerning and does not align with the values and service expectations of Lives lived Well.

It is our hope to understand your experience and to take steps to ensure this does not occur again. I have spoken to the manager, Grant Robin, who has written the response below. I would encourage you to contact Grant so you can give him a full account of your story.

I too express my apologies for what you have experienced as Grant has done below.

Warm regards

Gerard

Dear Apusny56

I read your feedback with curiosity and certainly the concerns that you have raised are not in line with the type of service and experience that we are seeking to provide our clients. I note that you were given feedback from the medical GP we utilize where your appropriateness for the program was questioned. I find this concerning as we have a very sound relationship with the local medical centre and generally they wouldn’t express those concerns directly, and would channel their feedback through our clinicians. This, alongside the other feedback you have given, I will most certainly follow up with the treating team and also our intake team with regards to any medical conditions that are identified for treatment consideration. I would also greatly appreciate if you were able to contact me directly (my mobile number is 0403 434 677) so that I can ensure my follow up can be pursued accurately. In the interim I offer my sincere apologies for the experience that you have described and hope to receive communication from you so I can accurately follow up and ensure that our services can continue to be delivered in a manner void of any perceived dishonesty and inequality.

Kind regards

Grant Robin (Manager Clinical Services Brisbane South)
