"Trying to get assistance with appointments booked wrong"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as the patient),

I am currently scheduled for a CT Scan, lung function test and doctor's appointment, and all have been booked by the hospital and mailed out on different days. My issue is they have booked the CT Scan for 9.25am in one area of the hospital, then the lung function at 9.30am in a completely different area, with the doctor's appointment at 11am, all 3 on the same day.

We have phoned the hospital numerous times over the past month trying to the appointments changed to enable realistic times between the CT and the lung function test, while the only time that has been amended is the doctor's appointment now to 11.50am. Each time we have called, the call has been to a different staff member who has taken the details and advised they would call us back, however, this has not happened.

I need to drive an extremely long way across the state to this hospital and cannot afford to have one of these appointments cancelled due to the current times stipulated. I also have private health benefits.

I have been advising to put this on your website with the hope of this being sorted out prior to my visit.

Dear hekajz95,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience whilst an outpatient with SCGH. I can appreciate particularly for our country patients it can be challenging to coordinate appointments with different services. I was very sorry to hear about the difficulty you have had with liaising with the different staff members and apologise that staff haven’t returned your calls. I would like to follow up on this matter so we can improve the coordination of your appointments. I encourage you to contact the SCGH Patient Liaison Service on (08) 6457 2867 so we are able to obtain further details and address the concerns that you have raised. Once again please accept my apologies and hope that you will be happy to contact us so we can help.
