"Pain management"

About: Royal Perth Hospital

(as a carer),

After numerous calls and letters Royal Perth Hospital will not see my partner as they say they can't do anything for him.   No one appears to want to support him in trying anything else to help his pain.   Why can't someone just take him in and talk to him and give him some support.   No, it seems they would rather he lay in a bed every day crying in pain.   In my opinion our hospital system is disgraceful.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story of your experience with Royal Perth Hospital.

First and foremost, I would like to sincerely apologise for what is obviously a very traumatic series of events for you and your partner, in trying to get the help that your partner needs with his pain management.

Given the nature of your concern, I would like to look into the matter and try and assist you to get the help you need for your partner. To do so however, we will need to speak with you directly, so may I ask that you please contact my office directly on 9224 3261 so that I can investigate this matter immediately and see what can be done to ensure that your partner gets the assistance required.

Yours sincerely

Dr Lesley Bennett

We have been given the hope from the above doctor in her reply that she was concerned and willing to help us. I have been ringing through over the last 6 weeks trying to speak to her, but to no avail. It would appear that obviously she isn't interested at all and yet here we are just another number. If you're not going to respond why bother saying you are. Bitterly disappointed again.

Dear Amused

It was good to talk with you recently and I am pleased that we have agreed a way forward by arranging for your partner to be seen again in our clinic soon on a mutually convenient date.

Kind regards
