"Impossible to see specialists"

About: Perth Children's Hospital Princess Margaret Hospital for Children

(as a parent/guardian),

I have a young child who is suspected to have Asperger's and OCD.

They have just had surgery because of being a chronic toe-walker.

In order to get a proper diagnosis, we will have to wait almost 4 years, to see 3 different specialists, each one with roughly an 18-month wait list.

It's absolutely disgusting.

Dear leosc79

Thank you for your comments around the care provided to your child. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment with the time taken to obtain a diagnosis, I appreciate that this would be extremely frustrating.

Without further details about your child, we are not able to look into this matter further. As such, I encourage you to contact the Child and Family Engagement Service on 9340 8315 or via PMHCLS@health.wa.gov.au to provide further details, so we can thoroughly investigate this matter, with a view to improving our processes for you and other families who use our services. At Perth Children’s Hospital we are always striving to improve, and we take feedback like yours on board to assist in identifying issues that require attention.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback.

Please accept my best wishes for your child.

Kind regards

Dr Victor Cheng
