"Sydney Eye Hospital Emergency Department"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I came in with a migraine headache accompanied by constant vomiting. In triage, my husband told them I'd been vomiting all morning and that I could take anything orally. After they gave me disolvable aspirin to wash down 2 tablets - it came up. They then proceeded with a drip.

With the hospital ED stay, I got a lot of attention, but some of the nurses checked up on me for the reason, it seemed, to give their opinion on potential medical causes and my medical condition.

It was hard enough to try and feel alright, but having people come up and talk to me about what they thought it was, when I had a migraine, made it almost unbearable.

Dear Omeagus

Thank you for giving us feedback on your recent experience in the Emergency Department. Excessive noise is overwhelming when you have a bad migraine and it can be a challenge for nurses’ to be mindful of those factors while being attentive and caring for your welfare. Your care and health would have been utmost in their mind. Your feedback is valuable to us, we will share your story with members of the Emergency Department, so staff can reflect on how to undertake care in a similar situation for the comfort of our patients.

King regards

Jennie
