"Patient services PCH"

About: Perth Children's Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

The allergy menu is extremely limited and all microwave meals. They often seem to run out of things, so just send a replacement rather than ringing to check, or in the case of yogurt or custard just send nothing at all

Three days in a row we ordered a roast meal and they obviously ran out, so we repeatedly got sent the same inedible meal every day.

We also had two mornings where we didn't receive breakfast despite it being ordered.

The other issue is that we were in patients for a week and our room did not get cleaned at all in that time. The only thing that was done was the floors cleaned on day six because there was so much dust on the floor, it was detrimental to trying to get a respiratory child home. We had to repeatedly ask for the floors to be done. I would have expected the room/bathroom to be cleaned every few days, like it was a PMH (Princess Margaret Hospital).

I understand there are still teething issues, but I found the food and cleaning services at PCH to be extremely poor.

Dear Little monkey

Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience at PCH. The situation you’ve described is clearly not acceptable and I’m sorry that this has happened. I have asked my team to investigate this as a priority. It would help target our investigations to know which area your child was admitted to. Can you please either contact the Clinical Nurse Manager or contact the Child and Family Engagement Service on 6456 0032 or via CAHSFeedback@health.wa.gov.au. Thank you again for taking the time to bring these issues to our attention.

Kind regards
Dr Victor Cheng
