My 25 year old son recently suffered a stroke. He luckily realised something was wrong and stumbled to his neighbours who rang an ambulance.
The ambulance took him to The Austin ED in Heidelberg and he was thrombilised within an hour so was very lucky. He spent a week in the Stroke Unit and was there diagnosed with a hole in the heart. The PFO (patent foramen ovale) Closure was performed within a week which was just amazing.
My husband and I would like to sincerely thank all of the Medical Staff at The Austin, from the ED nurses and doctors, the wonderful nurses in the Stroke Unit (in particular Jess and Jackie) the Neurologist Team, the wonderful nurses in the Cardiology Unit (especially the NUM (nurse unit manager) who ensured the PFO procedure went ahead on the day) and the amazing Cardiologist.
My son has a long journey ahead, but is certainly a much better outcome from all of the outstanding and caring work from such a professional Medical Workforce at The Austin. We can never thank you all enough !
