"I was recently in ED at my local hospital for extreme burning abdominal pain"

About: Sutherland Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I recently presented at the Emergency Department of my local hospital for extreme burning abdominal pain.

I was sat in a plastic chair for 4.5 hours, yet no scans were carried out by medical staff.

How do they know that I didn't have a bowel obstruction or Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm?

Dear Escapes2018

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am very sorry this happened to you, it certainly shows how we can improve our communication with our patients and I will share this with our staff.

It must have been very distressing for you to be waiting in pain and feeling uncertain about what was happening or what wasn't happening, for that matter.

I hope you are feeling better. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at SESLHD-TSH-ConsumerFeedback@health.nsw.gov.au if you would like to talk further about your care.

Kind regards,

Valerie Jovanovic
