My child broke their leg and had surgery to have pins and plates at Joondalup, WA. Two week after the surgery we had a consultation where the surgeon advised he would have to remove the metal work. We were to return at a later date to check on the progress of the healing and then surgery would be approx 4 weeks after that date.
I have been trying to obtain a cost of the surgery, plus establish any out of pocket expenses including if they are likely to do any scans because this is a major out of pocket expense. Of which I get the response, we can't or won't provide you this information until you've seen us again on your next visit or that you would have to make a further appointment, or you will have to follow this up with the imaging provider. Um hello, so now I shall guess what the surgeon is likely to do?
In addition to this we are trying to tie up a surgery with my other child at the same time, so I we only have to take one lot of time off work. Do you think they are are assisting us? It seems, definitely no. Funny how the other surgeon can provide us the financial information and book us well in advance but this surgeon can't!
The admin staff have informed me this doctor does not return calls, nor does he reply to emails. If we want to speak with him we must pay the consultation fee. Really! I've already had a consultation, why all the secrecy?
I believe it is not unreasonable for a me to ask for a full expected cost of the surgery and for them to work with us on our surgery date.
