Early one morning recently I awoke with acute chest pain and a rapid heartbeat. My wife sought the help of our neighbors in the caravan park and one of them called an ambulance. How lucky are we to have such dedicated volunteers. Thanks guys you soon had me sorted out and in the ambulance - extraction from a caravan is not easy. On arrival at Carnarvon Hospital emergency department the medical team took over, they carried out their assessment and and started to get my heart rate under control. It was 229bpm on arrival. I have nothing but praise for the way I was treated -professional and courteous. The entire hospital is to be congratulated including ancillary staff, without whom the hospital could not function. Late that afternoon after consultation with specialists from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital cardiology unit the decision was made to transfer me to Perth by RFDS. The flight time out was 2140 the same ambulance officers who picked me up in the morning also came to take me to the airport. A huge thanks to all at St Johns Ambulance Carnarvon. To the RFDS what a great job you do 24 hours a day. I have, like a lot of people, donated money to this organisation - I now have first hand experience and will encourage more people to donate. SCG Hospital you were fantastic. Could not have had better treatment. After several tests the diagnosis was Supraventricular Tachycardia. I am now back in Carnarvon enjoying life with my wonderful wife and our caravan fraternity. To all people involved thank you. I have omitted names because all of you deserve praise, not one person - our health system is the best in the world.
God bless you all.
