"Care at Sydney Eye Hospital"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as a friend),

My friend had some plant material in his eye and travelled down from the Central Coast to have it seen to. He was cared for by three very kind caring nurses as he needed to have his eye flushed with 2 litres of fluid. Sharon was in triage. Very efficiently led us into the clinical area and started the process. Another kind nurse continued until the incomparable Irene arrived. Irene instructed my suffering friend to relax and told him to hold a tissue loosely and if it scrunched up she knew he was tense & that was no good. She turned both his eyelids completely inside out yet still managed to convince him to lie still & let the fluid run over his eyeball.

The doctors gave him a very thorough examination & carefully explained what was happening. His eye is now completely back to normal & we are very grateful for the care he received.

Dear leogk63

Thank you for writing about your friend’s experience during his care and the compliments about our staff at Sydney Hospital & Sydney Eye Hospital. At SSEH we are committed to a number of values including compassion and respect. I am delighted that our team demonstrated these values in the care they provided to your friend.

It is great to hear your friend's eye is back to normal.

Kind regards

Jennie
