"Disconnected system"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Ear Nose & Throat

(as other),

In my opinion, FSH (Fiona Stanley Hospital) is so disconnected with is patients it's bordering on neglect. No info sent to my doctor till demanded. No images at all even on request, in fact I believe they're unable to find them. 1000km round trip, in my view, for a junior to um and ah, scratch his head and tell me nothing I didn't already know. Biopsies, I felt, without proper consulting.

Dear Captain no voice,

Thank you for sharing your story on Patient Opinion. I sincerely regret that your experience attending the Ear, Nose and Throat clinic at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) was so disappointing. Travelling a 1000 km round trip for an unsatisfactory appointment is not the patient experience or the care that I expect our health professionals to deliver. I understand you would be upset by this and I sincerely apologise.

So that we can better understand the issues you have raised and can improve our service, I encourage you to contact the Fiona Stanley Hospital Patient Family Liaison Service on 6152 4013 or via email: FSHFeedback@health.wa.gov.au, to enable this. We pride ourselves on responding to all feedback and, where detailed information is provided, we are able to use Patient Opinion stories as case studies with our staff as we seek to understand what we could have done better.

I have shared your concerns regarding the process at FSH being disconnected with the Ear, Nose and Throat clinic team so they are aware this is how you felt, and reiterated how important it is to listen to patient's concerns.

Kind regards

Janet Zagari
