We went to see about getting a loan for a walker to see if it would help my husband.
I was getting upset as we could not see someone for 2 weeks.
But head physio saw I was upset and took us aside made an appointment sooner.
I was getting anxious as my husband needed help.
She understood what was happening, so lent us a zimmer frame till our appointment.
Which in turn, our appointment went well. She arranged to have exercises for my husband, so he can do them at home with balancing, etc.
They were all very helpful for this - very friendly, helpful, etc.
Also for an Occupational Therapist to check home - she was very good too.
Where they could not help, she got us onto TADWA (Technology for Ageing and Disability WA) which was also very helpful.
This made us very happy, as it made things better for my husband. Also arranged a walker too.
We then went to podiatry appointment at Collie Hospital.
She was very good too, also put us onto CAEP (Community Aids and Equipment Program). To see about getting boots to left foot. She arranged to get support over getting the boot for stability and prevent falls.
We were able to get appointment to see about getting this done in Eaton
But in the end we were told the government does not do this. The podiatrist then said she did not know how to go about getting support for this.
The shoe place that makes these shoes rang me to say it did not come threw.
The podiatrist at this stage has not informed anything else we can do, which I think she had mentioned to me to explain.
My husband really needed these shoes for support, etc.
He has axonal sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy. He also has an eye condition and is partially sighted.
He has a degenerative lumbar spine disc narrowed, wide spread joint disease, curvature of spine, as well bulging in 3 parts of spine.
Plus, degenerative changes in talocrural joint. His ankle.
Widening of lateral joint space, ligament disruption of lateral ligament complex, which results in instability in his ankle and lung disease and atrial fibrillation
We feel these shoes would help him being stable.
He has problems with swelling too.
The lady there was very helpful too.
So how can you get more support for the shoes more subsidies?
Also not my husband -I get iron infusions. The staff are so helpful and ward clerks and front office are very good and helpful too.
But I think that if you had the infusions in one room in those recliner chairs, would be more helpful for the nurses when doing them instead of running from one room to another.
"How can we get more support for subsidies?"
