"My day visit for eye surgery"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as the patient),

Firstly, the theatre nurses, doctors and anaesthetist were wonderful.

Secondly, the ward staff were excellent.

However: A system has been put on the computer screen for staff to fill in and it is referred to by all staff. It seems nursing staff do not know what some of the abbreviations mean or stand for, so that space is left blank. I observed what I believe was a dangerous lack of understanding and training in at least 5 staff, who all questioned each other as to what the three letters meant. If felt it was obvious they have not been trained sufficiently.

Dear leoej93,

Thank you for your wonderful feedback about the ward staff, theatre nurses, doctors and anaesthetist during your care at Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital. We will make sure this is fed back to the staff.

Your observations of staffs engagement with the electronic documentation is very valuable and will be shared with the training team for consideration. Staff were provided training when the system was implemented and with updates on a regular basis.

Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us feedback and I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery.

Regards Jennie
