Our child was recently admitted to Perth Children's Hospital with an intussusception under the excellent care of Dr Japinder. This was a challenging case, as although his type is ordinarily benign, the additional presence of a hitherto undiagnosed congenital abnormality meant he required emergent life-saving surgery. His care was handled masterfully by the emergency department, the consulted medical team, the surgical team involved, and the nursing care in both the ED and 4B.
In particular I wish to single out Dr Nicole. She showed persistence and dedication to achieving the right answer for the patient, in the face of an early presentation, and tests that were awkward to interpret. This dedication allowed our child's surgeons to be kept informed and allowed them to make a crucial diagnosis.
Our child's anaesthetic team led by Dr David was calming and deeply reassuring. After our child's surgery, the care on 4B was exemplary; especially we wish to thank Jessie, Vo, Jean, Kristen, and Trish.
The care of the child of a doctor and a nurse is always very challenging; although we apologise for how awful we may have made it, we can never be more thankful for the incredible care that our child received.
Thank you, for getting our child back to us.
