"Fast and Friendly Service for a busted Kiwi"

About: Broome Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

After damaging her back at the beginning of our holiday to Broome my wife was in a lot of pain and was in tears doing everyday things like sitting and lying down.

After a couple of trips to the pharmacy for the best pain relief we could get over the counter we decided on day 2 (of 7) to visit the A&E, expecting a long wait, a high cost and probably a travel insurance claim.

After presenting ourselves to Broome A&E we filled out a form with our details, provided a passport and waited. Seeing my wife was in a lot of pain the nurse behind the counter went to see if she could find a doctor to provide some temporary pain relief. Two minutes later we were taken through to the treatment area and transferred to a bed.

Dr Sasha promptly followed, provided friendly, efficient advice and described in terms we could understand what had happened and how he arrived at his treatment plan.

We were in and out in 30 minutes and were able to continue our holiday! There was no cost to us and no insurance claim to make.

Dear Mr Busted Kiwi

Welcome. Thanks so much for sharing your healthcare story with us online.

Great to read that our ED team including Dr Sascha focused on caring for Mrs Busted Kiwi by bringing pain relief fast, first and foremost. Not letting paperwork get in the way of clinical need.

Glad that after a distressing start far from home you're back on track enjoying your holiday in Broome. Safe travelling!

Warm regards,

David
