My parent has lived at Alwyndor for some years now. From my perspective, Alwyndor used to be a warm and welcoming facility, with wonderful, friendly, and well qualified staff. A new management team has arrived, and I believe the care and qualifications of staff caring for my frail parent has declined markedly. I am rather angry at the dismissals of good nursing staff, who knew the residents and the resident's backgrounds, and who have been replaced with 'medically competent' care staff, who now are the staff who provide medications and nursing care. I was astounded. I am angered that this team of mangers, who I believe have not taken the time to get to know the residents personally, can say they continue to provide the excellent care and services I believe Alwyndor was once known for. I feel this is evidenced at resident meetings, where they do not seem to know residents who have been living at the facility since before either of these managers began working there. I most certainly think the current managers are less concerned about providing a homely, caring, supportive, and most importantly, excellent frail aged facility. I feel they have breezed in on the back of Alwyndor's good reputation, and I believe in the midst of cost cutting, are feathering their own nests and executive reputations - and I am angered by this. I am considering moving my family member to where I feel it's a more caring facility. I am extremely sad and incredibly angered.
