My ex-wife suffered from psychosis, and after police attendance I took her to Charlie Gardeners Emergency Dept. We took all her medications in a plastic bag.
My ex-wife was given a bed in ED while a bed was sought in another ward. All her items excluding her medications were itemised.
Two days later she was moved to another ward, minus her medications and her expensive glasses (which had been listed).
Five days later, even though she was still hearing voices, she was discharged. My preference was for her to be moved to a private mental facility (she has private cover) to monitor her further. Unfortunately, I felt there was “light” pressure from the treating doctor to discharge her then. It was only on discharge that we discovered all her medications and glasses had been lost. We then had to wait half an hour before being seen, to register this loss. She left hospital without medications or glassses. Luckily she had an existing script, which she got filled, but then lost on the way home.
Three days later, after police attended, she was sent back to emergency due to her pyschosis.
I believe she should not have been sent home.
