After years of being a satisfied with out-patient at Sydney's Eye Hospital, my visit to the Emergency Department recently was my first - and hopefully the last - encounter with a particular nurse, who appeared to do her darnedest to take the caring out of the profession.
In my opinion, to say that she was rude, uncaring, and downright unprofessional would be an understatement.
Having severe dry eye syndrome, I was finding it difficult to open my eyes, but she just didn't seem to care. Instead she yelled out something to the effect that she would let someone else check me, and refused to answer any questions about the problem, simply stating - you just have to wait for 3-4 hours to be seen by a doctor!
I realise that the hospital was busy - like always; but do not believe that taking it out on the patients is part of her job description.
By contrast, the lovely doctor who looked after me on my most recent visit, couldn't have been nicer.
