My teenager was complaining of abdo pain and vomiting. My husband took our teenager to our GP who suggested we take them to the ED because they were concerned it could be appendicitis. During our child's stay in ED, they were in considerable pain. Our child had bloods taken and their abdo palpated, but that was as far as it went. I was told if it gets worse bring them back.
Over night the pain increased and I ended up taking our child back the next day. During this second stay staff tested our child's urine and gave them a thorough assessment before sending our child for an ultrasound. Before actually giving our child a diagnosis, I feel that my child's pain was not managed adequately and it would have been nice to have a thorough assessment done the first time to avoid the worry and stress of returning a second time.
