"Appreciation letter regarding emergency staff and ward."

To all staff night and morning shift during our recent trip to the Emergency Ward.

Saturday night and Sunday morning, for myself were absolutely terrifying let alone for my partner / fiancé. It started with fiance' suffering from a severe migraine headache and a visit from a home doctor service to our home and a quick examination - she was given medication at about 1:30 am. Well within the hour I was woken by my fiance' choking and gasping for air. I quickly turned the light on and like most blokes panicked. Her eyes had rolled backwards, she was still chocking, I was horrified yelling and screaming hoping she’d acknowledge me in one way or another. During what seamed like an eternity things settled and I called an ambulance. From that moment on was my introduction to how your world works and the incredible jobs you guys do. From the guy on the phone at 000 to Colin our paramedic and his driver at St John's I thank you, you put myself and my partner at ease and gave me the strength and composure I needed for my partner you were thorough and professional.

After Colin and his mate dropped us to emergency they remained with us until we were signed over to hospital staff. From there, to my amazement the professionalism and compassion, whilst orderly and business like continued. My fiance' was unaware and confused about her seizure and we were then assigned to a young nurse named Annalise (no idea of the spelling sorry) - again truly professional, understanding with an ability to put us at ease, answer any questions and inspire confidence in your hospital and the outstanding skills of the staff within .

It goes on, my fiance' had just been wheeled into her cubical in emergency ward, relaxed and ready for home when she started another seizure. Well with the blink of an eye Annalise was in action, like second nature to her - in complete control within seconds, it appeared all hands on deck, as I stood scared to death for my partner there was a rugby scrum of medical staff attending to the most important person to me and the love of my life.To Annalise and staff involved I thank you all with the utmost  sincerity .

From there my partner went for a scan and I was consoled and briefed as to what was happening. Possibilities of the best and worst outcome of my partner's diagnosis, although unpleasant were given truthfully. All questions answered professionally with the utmost compassion.

Shift change. You guys just kept assigning us with more amazing staff. Our next nurse again deserves all of the above accolades, only more. Jill, this young lady deserves a medal - sensational with a sense of humour.

In case anyone who reads this is unaware, we are more than a little impressed .This may have been a routine emergency in your world, but in ours terrifying. We are forever grateful for the outstanding service you provided and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. I hope your managers take the time to read this and you all get the gratitude you deserve. I'm also taking this opportunity to recommend large pay rises to you all and to raise the budget at this year's Xmas party. Good luck and good health to you all.
