(as the patient),

Went in because my local GP suspected appendicitis. After being poked and prodded by the emergency doctor who didn’t believe that I could have appendicitis, and being sent to ultrasound where they didn’t notify the doctor on call that I was being sent after, I was put on IV fluids and not allowed the toilet, which resulted in me peeing myself. Results came back that I had appendicitis and that a surgeon would need to see me. Two and a half hours later I’m still waiting. 

I haven't eaten since 9 am and it is now 10 pm. When I asked the nurses what was happening they just smiled at me and walked away.

Coming into hospital and facing the possibility of undergoing surgery can be a very unsettling experience. There are risks with all surgery and our clinicians need to ensure that comprehensive medical testing is undertaken to confirm an accurate diagnosis.

We are sorry that you experienced some wait times relating to your surgery and do apologise if communication from our staff did not provide you with the information you required.

We certainly hope you are experiencing a speedy recovery and continue to enjoy good health in the future.
