"Not listening"

About: St John of God Midland Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a carer),

Went in with issues with pains in the eye and head. Informed the nurse and doctors and they said it was a scratch on the eye. Well when we told them there are blister type things coming up on her forehead they said there are marks on the the other side. My wife said that's from lupus  and they have been there for along time.

One started to weep but nothing was done .

We  where discharged and later found out it was shingles and this was picked up by a GP. So not sure why they didn't listen to us or are they trained to understand?

Dear ratio

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your recent experience in Emergency Department at our hospital.

It is disappointing to learn that the care provided did not meet your expectations and that you needed to visit your GP.

We would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about your experience so that we can address the issues you raised.

Please feel free to contact our Consumer Liaison on 9462 4901 to provide further details which will allow us to look into the circumstances of your visit.

Once again, thank you for the feedback and we look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Janet Jones

Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Clinical Governance
