"Treatment from Emergency nurse"

About: Kununurra Hospital

(as the patient),

I went to the Emergency Department recently short of breath, coughing and having chest pain. I found the triage nurse at Kununurra District Hospital to be extremely condescending and treated me like a hypochondriac. She checked my chest, said it was clear, that I was just having a panic attack and to control my breathing. I could wait in reception ED waiting room till I calmed down, so I left. I have been to see my GP as the short of breathing and coughing did not go away. I have been diagnosed with acute pharyngitis and need antibiotics to clear it up. I have lived in Kununurra for many years and never have I been treated like a inconvenient problem. I believe this manner of unprofessional service is disgusting and she is very lucky it wasn't a more serious diagnosis!
