Recently I rung the ambulance as my father was having chest pain at pain of 10 the highest score. He arrived at Harvey District Hospital. The doctor on call ran the generic tests they normally run. As per usual they came back all clear. Dad was told to go home. I was unhappy so I drove to the hospital only to be met by, I believe the most arrogant doctor I have ever met. He didn't seem to care that Dad was still in pain (8) chest, couldn't even sit himself up and was complaining about the pain in his legs. Dad has a history of a bad heart, but hasn't had a problem in over a year. But according to this doctor he has been in 5 times in past year with chest pain, which isn't true as I know because I have had to ring the ambulance every time. Anyway, in my opinion, the doctor didn't listen so me, and my brother had to help my dad on to a wheelchair and load him in the car. It was now over 24 hours later and his pain was going from 3 to 9. The doctor told Dad and I quote - go home and take some pain killers.
I have written to my local members of parliament as I am very, very unhappy with the service of a hospital that just had a $13 million dollar upgrade.
"No care given"
